The techno legend – Carl Cox, claims number 1 spot for the second time in the DJ Mag alternative top 100 list.
Launched in 2018 in association with Beatport, the Top 100 DJs list is then combined with the overall sales of House/Techno tracks of the respective artists to produce the list.
The list is very different compared to the mainstream Top 100 DJs list with a Big few appearing in both. However, 14 DJs are concurrent in the respective lists this year.
The champion of Techno expressed his happiness to DJ Mag. Here are his exact words.
“Can you imagine if I mapped out every single party I’ve ever done? The map would be riddled with pin-drops everywhere — it would be a complete rash of events that I’ve played. It’s been a mad journey. I’m 57 now, in three more years I’m 60, but I don’t feel like that — age is still a number, and I still do what I do to the best of my ability.”
Following Carl Cox, Drumcode Boss Adam Beyer laid claim to #2, who is followed by Claptone at #3, Nina Kraviz at #4 and Fisher at #5.
The very fact that 14 DJs are concurrent in the mainstream and the alternative lists shows that the consumption of Techno has increased in greater proportions compared to the yesteryears.
Compared to the last year, tech house DJs occupied lesser positions in the alternative list, which clearly shows signs of Techno rising up.
