COLDPLAY MUMBAI TICKETS
The excitement for Coldplay’s Music Of The Spheres World Tour in Mumbai has reached a fever pitch, but recent developments surrounding ticket resales have raised concerns.
As the iconic British band gears up for three performances on January 18, 19, and 20, 2025, at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, many fans have found themselves battling not just to secure tickets but also with the risk of buying from unauthorized resellers.
After tickets for the Mumbai shows were swiftly sold out on BookMyShow, reports surfaced of tickets being resold on the black market at exorbitant prices, sometimes going for as high as ₹3 lakh per ticket, far above their original price of ₹12,500. The black market activities prompted BookMyShow to take strict action by filing a First Information Report (FIR) with the Mumbai Police.
BookMyShow Takes a Stand Against Scalping
In response to the illegal resale of Coldplay Mumbai tickets, BookMyShow filed the FIR on October 2, 2024, under sections 318(4) and 319(2) of the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) and section 66(C) of the Information Technology Act. These sections pertain to cheating by personation and identity theft, as many scalpers and unauthorized resellers had impersonated legitimate ticket buyers to profit from the resale of tickets.
BookMyShow also revealed that several requests for bulk ticket purchases were denied after it became evident that the buyers intended to resell them. Despite issuing multiple warnings, scalping activities persisted on various platforms, including social media and online ticket reselling sites like Viagogo and Stubhub.
Consequences for Unauthorized Buyers
BookMyShow has reiterated its commitment to canceling tickets purchased from unauthorized channels. The company has warned concertgoers that any tickets bought from third-party resellers could be invalidated, leaving fans unable to attend the highly anticipated shows. BookMyShow strongly advises fans to avoid purchasing tickets from such sources to steer clear of scams and potential losses.
The company’s spokesperson emphasized, “We vehemently oppose ticket reselling and scalping, and all tickets purchased through unauthorized platforms are at risk of being canceled. Our stance on this remains firm, and we will cooperate fully with law enforcement to bring those responsible for illegal sales to justice.”
Mumbai Police Investigation Underway
The Mumbai Police’s Economic Offenses Wing (EOW) has launched an investigation into the matter, gathering data from BookMyShow about resellers’ contact details, including names, email addresses, and WhatsApp numbers. So far, the police have been working to track down the individuals involved in the unauthorized sales, aiming to curb the widespread ticket scalping.
BookMyShow is taking every measure to protect concertgoers and uphold fairness, providing full cooperation to the police investigation.
A Word of Caution for Fans
As the date for Coldplay’s concert in Mumbai approaches, fans are encouraged to remain vigilant and purchase tickets only through official channels like BookMyShow. The platform has made it clear that it is not associated with any third-party ticketing platforms or unauthorized resellers. The company continues to stress that only tickets bought directly through BookMyShow are valid and eligible for entry to the concerts.
Fans should also be aware of the ongoing investigation and stay tuned for further updates regarding ticket cancellations and the possibility of additional ticket releases closer to the event.
