Just few hours ago Chinese American electronic music producer, ZHU released his new track ‘Nightcrawler.’
From the time it was teased on Instagram, it has been creating controversies. In the teaser uploaded on Instagram, shots were fired at popular producer such a Marshmello, The Chainsmokers, Kygo and many more.
The controversy didn’t stop there. Hours after the release of the track, English DJ and record producer, Duke Dumont claimed that several elements of this track were copied from Duke’s demo that were written about 11 months ago. The English DJ got to on Twitter to express his opinion.
A demo i wrote 11 months ago for my album@ZHUmusic going to give you the benefit of the doubt, but the writer on your new record stole it. pic.twitter.com/m0mxFGTeK9

Duke pointed out “the vocal hook”, ‘the vibe” and “the title” to be stolen. The only thing we think that is similar is the title. The claim about the “vibe” is quite a stretch. Every now and then we see tracks from 2 different producers sounding similar. It doesn’t mean that those tracks are plagiarized. There is a very high chance of overlapping of certain elements.
In this case, we don’t think that there is enough evidence to prove that the track is stolen. Listen to ZHU’s track below and let us know what you think about it.

If you listen to both clips a couple times you notice a few things . They have the same chords, the same rhythm and when the beat comes in it is the same on both. Also you can substitute either songs lyrics on the top of the other and they work just the same. They are they same song with different instruments and different words. Could be a coincidence.
