When the Pandemic began, most festivals and concerts to be held in the early part of the year began to reschedule to new dates towards the latter half of the year presuming this too would pass.
When Marshmello announced his Joytime: Into The Melloverse tour in March of 2020, it definitely felt like August 29, when the tour was meant to kickoff seemed so far away and we would surely be back to normal.
Fast forward to July and it has become clearer than ever that there still is no foreseeable end to the Covid-19 pandemic and doing right by his Mello gang, Marshmello decided to cancel his tour which was set to run from August 29 through October 2, 2020, so he could issues his fans a full refund.
In a statement to fans, he explained his decision to fans as to why he chose to cancel rather than reschedule, he said,
“The safety and well-being of every single one of you is way important to me than the thought of rescheduling the tour for 2021. I also know a lot of us have been hit hard financially on top of everything else so I wanted to make sure everyone that bought a ticket got their money back. All tickets will be fully refunded at the point of purchase. It’s so important for us to be there for one another during these testing times so I want all of you to know that I can’t wait to see you all soon.”
He also made sure to take a moment to share best practices and use his platform to spread awareness saying,
“Stay safe, wear your mask, wash your hands, and practice social distancing. The sooner we can do all that, the sooner we can go back to life as we once knew it.”
