This years American Music Awards (AMAs) took place on November 24, 2019 at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles, California.
Hosted by Ciara and with performances by Selena Gomez, Taylor Swift, Travis Scott and more, audiences were in for a treat. While Taylor Swift took away a lot of the major honors for the night, the world of EDM had a winner take top honors for the category once again.
Marshmello won Favorite Artist – Electronic Dance Music for the second consecutive year at the AMA’s. His competitors this year were Avicii and The Chainsmokers who themselves have won the award a fair amount of times. With this win, Marshmello has now tied for the most wins on this particular award along with Calvin Harris and The Chainsmokers.

Unlike a lot of award shows, the AMAs allows fans to vote for who should win the top spots in each category. Marshmello hence took to Twitter to thank his fans for helping him garner the top spot in this category.
Mello was also nominated in the category of Collaboration of the year for his viral hit “Happier” with Bastille, but ultimately Shawn Mendes and Camilla Cabello grabbed that win for “Señorita.”
