Spotify Pop-Up Concert in Athens
Megan Moroney, a University of Georgia alum and Academy of Country Music Award winner, will perform on Friday, November 15, at 7 p.m. CT. The event will also feature Georgia-born artists Lily Rose and Mackenzie Carpenter, who will host and open the show, respectively. This pop-up concert is free, but priority will be given to University of Georgia and University of Tennessee students, as well as Moroney’s top Spotify fans.
Attendees can enjoy customized football-themed merchandise and a free month of Spotify Premium for Students, adding to the event’s excitement.
‘Tennessee Orange’ and Its Impact
The concert coincides with Moroney’s breakout hit, “Tennessee Orange,” which has a unique connection to the Georgia-Tennessee rivalry. The song tells the story of a Georgia-native falling for a Tennessee fan, sparking both humor and heartache as she dons the rival team’s colors. This track became a viral sensation, fueled by speculation about her connection with Morgan Wallen.
“My songs reflect personal experiences, and ‘Tennessee Orange’ is no exception,” Moroney shared. The track’s emotional depth resonates with fans, solidifying her place in country music’s rising star lineup.
Returning to Her Roots
Performing at the Georgia Theater is a nostalgic milestone for Moroney. In 2017, she first took the stage at this iconic venue as a student, opening for Chase Rice. Back then, she played an acoustic set alongside her father and brother, marking the beginning of her professional journey.
“Returning to the Georgia Theater feels like a full-circle moment,” Moroney said in a past interview. “It’s where I first felt the rush of performing for an audience.”
A Year of Milestones
2024 has been a breakout year for Moroney. From headlining her own tours to opening for country superstar Kenny Chesney during his “Sun Goes Down” tour, she’s been on a whirlwind journey. “Touring with Kenny is like a masterclass in performance,” she stated. “It inspires me to improve every single day.”
With a growing fan base and an exciting lineup of events, Moroney is cementing her status as one of country music’s brightest stars.
