And, another one bites the dust. Iconic Techno festival Movement Detroit has officially had to cancel its 2021 edition set to be held originally on Memorial Day Weekend, May 29th-31st, 2021.

Coming to terms with the fact that the covid-19 pandemic has led to another year’s cancellation for the festival, the official statement came with “painful realization” and read, “We have been looking forward to reuniting with all of you on Memorial Day weekend, but the ongoing pandemic and state regulations have led us to the painful realization that our beloved Movement Festival will not happen in May 2021.”

While they haven’t yet been able to reveal details of any potential future dates or what this means for ticket holders, the statement continued saying “Our team is working hard to provide updates about future dates and ticketing options. We will be in touch next month with more information.”

While the festival faced a similar fate in 2020, the organizers made sure to delight fans with a stacked lineup for the 2021 edition with the who’s who of the Techno scene from Maceo Plex to Richie Hawtin and Seth Troxler to deadmau5’s alias TESTPILOT.

Back in 2020 festival organizer Paxahu stood true to tradition and continued to host Movement albeit digitally in May. The online festival lineup featured festival mainstays like Seth Troxler, Claude VonStroke, Anna, Justin Martin, and many more.

Will another digital edition of Movement 2021 be the route they take or will they push the festival to a later date in the year? Well, all we can do is wait and watch, and hope. Rest assured, we will keep you posted once we hear any official announcements.
