Act Fast: Four Major Settlements Expire This June

There’s still time to cash in on four big class action settlements closing this June – totaling more than $16.77 million, but you’ve got to hustle before the deadlines hit.

These settlements involve a mix of data breaches, deceptive marketing, robocalls, and defective appliances. If you’re eligible, you could walk away with payments ranging from $70 to $5,000. The clock is ticking, though, and the cutoff for each one falls within weeks. So if you’re one of the Americans who may qualify, here’s your reminder that you’re not out of luck just yet.

One of the biggest cases involves the Retina Group of Washington, a major eye care provider in Maryland and Virginia. After a data breach in March 2023 compromised personal information like Social Security numbers and health insurance data, the company was hit with a class action. While it denied wrongdoing, it agreed to a $3.6 million payout. Eligible claimants can file for up to $300 for basic expenses or $5,000 for major losses tied to fraud. There’s also compensation for lost time at $25 an hour and two years of credit monitoring. Not interested in all the paperwork? You can claim a flat $100 alternative payout instead, just get that form in by June 23.

Next, we’ve got the DSW Shoe Warehouse and Designer Brands case. This one’s about annoying spam texts, specifically marketing messages sent after people opted out. If you received unwanted messages from either brand between September 1, 2018, and September 1, 2024, you may be entitled to a cash payout of around $70. You don’t need proof; just file your claim by June 30. The total settlement is worth $4.42 million, and the companies are accused of violating the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA). So if your phone was blowing up, this one’s for you.

Another one wrapping up soon is the Whirlpool refrigerator frost settlement. It covers Whirlpool, KitchenAid, and Maytag fridges sold between 2012 and 2019 that developed extreme frost buildup, making them barely usable. Though the manufacturer also denied wrongdoing, they agreed to cough up cash for out-of-pocket repair and replacement costs, up to $300. The deadline to file is June 18, and you’ll need your fridge’s serial number to confirm eligibility.

Then there’s Botanic Tonics, the company behind the Feel Free Wellness Tonic, which allegedly contains kratom, a controversial plant extract banned in several states. The lawsuit accused Botanic Tonics of marketing the drink as a safe alternative to alcohol without disclosing health risks tied to kratom. Again, they denied any wrongdoing but agreed to pay out $8.75 million. Anyone who bought the tonic between March 28, 2019, and March 5, 2025, could be eligible for a refund between $175 and $291.66, depending on how many bottles they purchased. No proof of purchase is needed for up to 10 bottles, but claims must be in by June 17.

Here’s a look at key June 2025 class action settlement deadlines:

Settlement Deadline Value
MGM Resorts data breach June 3 $45 million
Feel Free Wellness Tonic (Botanic Tonics) June 17 $8.75 million
Avast Data Privacy June 5 $16.5 million
HP.com fake discounts June 9 $4 million
HALO BassiNest bassinet June 10 $1.5 million
Whirlpool refrigerator frost issue June 18 Varies (up to $300)
Retina Group of Washington data breach June 23 $3.6 million
UnitedHealth (Optum) robocalls June 24 $1.8 million
Sierra-at-Tahoe ski ticket refunds June 24 Undisclosed
DSW TCPA spam text messages June 30 $4.42 million

So if you’ve dealt with icy fridges, mystery spam texts, a sketchy wellness drink, or identity theft after a healthcare data breach, now’s the time to act. With just a few minutes and your info ready, you could claim cash that’s rightfully yours. And if you think this is it, nope. There are even more settlements open, including one involving crackers and another that could get you up to $7,000 with just a bank statement.
