Americans Can Claim Up to $2,500 From Harvard Pilgrim Data Breach Settlement—Here’s How

If your personal information was exposed in the Harvard Pilgrim Health Care data breach, you could be owed up to $2,500, or even more, thanks to a newly approved $16.5 million class-action settlement.

The breach, which occurred in 2023, affected countless patients and members whose Social Security numbers, medical records, and insurance details were compromised. Though Harvard Pilgrim, now a part of Point32Health, denies wrongdoing, the company agreed to settle claims that it lacked adequate cybersecurity protections.

To be eligible, individuals must submit a valid claim form by August 25, 2025. The process is straightforward: fill out the form and choose whether you want to be compensated for documented losses or opt for a flat $150 payment.

Reimbursement options include:

  • Up to $2,500 for out-of-pocket losses such as fraud-related charges, bank fees, credit monitoring, and identity theft expenses
  • Up to 7 hours of lost time reimbursed at $30/hour
  • Extraordinary loss claims up to $35,000 and 20 hours of lost time, if you’ve experienced major damages
  • Three years of free credit monitoring services

No proof? No problem. Even if you don’t have documentation of losses, you can still choose the standard $150 cash option.

Harvard Pilgrim provides insurance to individuals and employers in the New England area, and the breach affected those in their system at the time of the incident. If you were enrolled or had data on file during the breach, your info may have been part of the exposure.

You can check your eligibility and file your claim via the official Harvard Pilgrim Data Breach Settlement website, where full terms and required documentation details are listed.

This isn’t the only settlement up for grabs. HP (Hewlett-Packard) is also settling a separate $4 million class action over claims of misleading website discounts between 2021 and 2024.

With multiple tech and health data breaches hitting American consumers, class actions like these are becoming more common, and more lucrative for those who file on time.

If your data was leaked and you’ve paid the price, now’s your shot to get paid back. Just don’t miss that August deadline.
