In a historic victory called by most of the world media, President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris spoke to the American public for the very first time after being announced victorious on the night of November 7.

In a highly emotional moment after each of their heartfelt addresses, the event broke into a celebration with a massive show of drone-powered fireworks accompanied by a powerful soundtrack that continued the theme of their messages.

Reiterating how love trumps hate, soon after the president-elect ended his speech and welcomed his family on stage, the fireworks began accompanied by the very first track being Kygo and Whitney Houston’s “Higher Love.”

While the campaign has lead with a message of choosing healing and empathy after all the strife the country has faced in the recent past, Higher Love seemed to be the perfect combination of Houston’s gospel’ic voice and vocals partnered with Kygo’s lively beats and synths.

The celebration also went on to play another iconic track, late Avicii and Coldplay’s 2014 anthem “A Sky Full Of Stars” filled the soundscape as the drone-powered fireworks went on to do fancy things like outline the American flag, write Biden and Harris across the skies and reiterate the historic moment.

This song’s addition had a deeper meaning and emotional connection. It was Joe Biden’s late son Beau’s favorite song and Chris Martin notably performed the number at Beau’s funeral in 2015.

This isn’t the first time political campaigns have used EDM and Pop music, but we must give a big thumbs up to the Biden-Harris for song choice here, meaningful, relevant, and bringing hope.
