In what is being described as a film that provides a snapshot of “music and the artist who defined an era and changed the world of music forever” this new Avicii documentary is set to release in 2023.
With the aim to provide an “up-close, intimate, and epic story about his unparalleled successes and his struggles to cope with the pressure” the documentary will also feature never seen before archive footage and interviews with Tim Bergling. In addition it will also feature exclusive interviews from Tim’s collaborators, friends and family.
As reported by Billboard, produced by Swedish director and cinematographer Björn Tjärnberg and Candamo Film in cooperation with Swedish National Television, the documentary is being shot by Swedish director Henrik Burman.
Speaking about the project, Burman said, “My goal is to provide an honest and new perspective on both the artist Avicii and Tim’s life. I want this to be a film that surprises the audience and challenges the public’s image of Sweden’s biggest international artist of today and, in doing so, also shine a light on what his music has meant to so many people.”
This isn’t the first documentary about the late Swedish legend, Avicii – True Stories which was released in 2017, saw his entire story told from the inside with a chronicled timeline showing his rise to stardom and the deep mental health struggles that came with it for Tim. It honed in on the time he was winding down his career in lieu of his overly publicized burnout.
While specifics like the name and release date have still not been released for the in-production documentary, it is set for release in 2023.
