One of the most iconic duos in the EDM industry, Swedish giants Axwell Λ Ingrosso have come a long way from forming Swedish House Mafia to changing styles of production and releasing their latest EP ‘More Than You Know’.
Just last month the duo got on to Zach Sang’s Show for an extensive interview covering a wide range of topics from production to tours to collaborations to the evolution of music industry. Not many would have expected the duo to be open about expressing their opinions on various topics. But, the duo was open to discuss literally anything and everything.
When asked if an artist is forced to change with the current trend of music?
“If there is a wave of a sound that’s happening, you should do quite the complete opposite because if you’re trying to catch that wave, you’re always going to be too late” explained Axwell.
One thing we observed during the interview is the contrasting nature and styles of Axwell and Ingrosso that helps them balance out each other and do what they do best. For instance, Axwell talks about his love for consistency in style of music from artists whereas Sebastian explains how he loves artists like Kanye West who keep changing their music.
“As long as you make music that you like, that you genuinely like, then at least you’ve done your part.” – Axwell
“Do you think ‘Don’t You Worry Child’ is a timeless record?” asked Zach Sang.
“Yeah!” exclaimed Axwell. “If you ask me I would say yes.. because.. not because it’s our own record. But, I heard it on the radio actually in Sweden the other week and I was like, wow! This still sounds ok, still sounds like it means you know what I mean”, expressed Sebastian.
The veterans also expressed their opinion about some fans that label EDM concerts as ‘pressing play’. Apart form the above they talk about their new EP, their inspiration, The Chainsmokers, competition in EDM and much more.
This is the first time we’ve seen the iconic duo talk in-depth about a wide variety of subjects. Watch the extensive and fun interview of the duo below:
