If you’ve recently stocked up on canned goods, you might want to double-check your pantry, Vietti Food Group has issued a recall on over 4,500 cases of its Yellowstone Brown Sugar Molasses Baked Beans due to a serious allergen concern: undeclared soy.
The recall, announced on May 2, 2025, applies specifically to 15-ounce cans marked with the lot code “Best if Used By Feb 17, 2028” printed on the bottom. These baked beans were sold in over 20 states, including Texas, Florida, Illinois, New York, and North Carolina.
For most people, soy might seem harmless. But for those with soy allergies or sensitivities, consuming even a small amount can lead to severe or life-threatening reactions. The issue here is that the label doesn’t list soy as an ingredient , making it an invisible risk for allergic individuals.
As of now, no illnesses have been reported, but health officials and Vietti Food Group are urging caution.
If you live in any of these states, this recall could apply to you:
Arizona, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, and Virginia.
If you have a can that matches the lot code, do not eat it, even if you don’t have a soy allergy. The safest move is to return it to the store where you bought it for a full refund.

This is part of an ongoing effort by the FDA and food manufacturers to keep potentially dangerous products off the shelves. But it also puts some responsibility on shoppers to stay informed and act quickly when recalls happen.
Recalls like this are more than just headlines, they’re about real people avoiding real risk. So check your cans, spread the word to family and friends, and if your pantry has one of these Yellowstone baked bean cans, it’s time to swap it out.
