Hungary’s beach-themed festival, Balaton Sound closes its 11th edition with a new record

Hungary’s beach-themed festival, Balaton Sound was attended by a record breaking amount of people, with 165,000 visitors over five days, increasing by 8,000 visitors from 2016’s record-breaking year.

The jam-packed 5-day festival, which took place at the picturesque Lake Balaton on 4th-8th July, saw festival-goers from nearly 60 countries present at Europe’s coolest beach festival, Balaton Sound for its 11th edition.

Being one of the largest open-air events in Europe, the festival combined a diverse musical offering set across 9 stages featuring headliners; The Chainsmokers, David Guetta, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Martin Garrix, Big Sean, Rita Ora, and Eric Prydz just to name a few.

Saturday proved to be the biggest year yet as 40,000 revellers showed up for the immersive programs of performances, carnivals, luxury camping, plus delicious food and drink. House music heavyweight, David Guetta spectacularly closing the renewed Main Stage, as well as a range of boat parties with Scuba, Ellen Allien and CamelPhat on the all-star bill. Plus, the debut of ‘Clubs On The Beach’ which saw 5 prominent club brands and institutions; Fuse, Rex, Watergate, Defected and Pacha taking over the waterfront stage each day for non-stop techno and house music.

Marking the 11th sell-out year, it’s clear to see why Balaton Sound has captured the hearts of so many fans to Hungary, a true prominent event in the festival calendar.

Dates for Balaton Sound 2019 have already been announced and will take place on 3rd – 7th July 2019 – further info will be revealed soon.
