Pop musics biggest breakout act of the year, artist/producer duo The Chainsmokers, have topped the chart with their single Closer ft Halsey on both the UKs official chart and the Billboard Hot 100.
Selling almost 250K copies since it was first released at the end of July the track has beaten Major Lazers Cold Water and DJ Snakes Let Me Love You to the top spot.
The track marks their third to make the charts Top 20 this year, following Dont Let Me Down which reached #2 and Roses at #16.

Closer, which features vocals from rising star Halsey and the duo’s own Drew Taggart, is currently sitting at #1 the UK iTunes chart, Shazam, Spotify, VEVO and has amassed over 147million streams globally.
The track reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the US, where it is also sitting at #1 on the iTunes chart.
