Rumor has it that the “Animals” hitmaker, Martin Garrix has a much-awaited collaboration in the works with one of the biggest names in music, Drake.
The rumor began floating on the internet early this week after a Redditor sparked the idea of the possible collab sharing a screenshot to back it up. He wrote,
“Martin Garrix recently did an interview with 538 radio at Tomorrowland saying he has worked with the biggest person he has ever worked with so far. This is a leaked image of a DM between Murdabeatz who is a producer for several big rappers which includes Drake the DM shows Murdabeatz photographer leaking the collab pretty reliable source this could be HUGE!!!!!!”
The screenshot shows Murda Beatz’s photographer referring to “Mr from the 6” clearly hinting at Drake. “The 6” is something Drake came up with and it has stuck. Explaining how it came about on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Drake had said – “…our area code is 416, we were debating on The Four, but I went tail-end on them and went 6. And at one point Toronto was broken up into six areas (Old Toronto, Scarborough, East York, North York, Etobicoke, and York), so it’s all clicking man.”
Fueling this further, earlier in July, Garrix had shared a picture on his Instagram story of him in the studio with Murda Beatz, a Canadian record producer, and songwriter who has worked with rappers galore, including Drake.

Just after this, in a radio interview with 538 at Tomorrowland weekend one, Garrix revealed that right after his accident, a phase during which he was quite down, he went to the studio “with him” and that was the “what the f*ck!!! Moment of the year” for him as reported by one of his most prominent fan pages.
Will all this add up to a monstrous collab? Or are we just reading into things too hard? We guess we’ll have to wait till any kind of official announcement from the artists to figure that out. In the meantime, we can only hope the rumors translate to reality.
