After all sorts of concerts, tours and festivals stand indefinitely canceled in these tough times of the Coronavirus global pandemic, for a lot of artists and DJ’s who are usually constant touring and traveling, this means welcome time at home.
For most of them, however, till only a few weeks ago they were touring and flying around the world during which they could have been exposed to anything. Diplo returned home a couple of days ago and took one of the hardest calls to self-isolate himself from his children who live with their grand-mom who would right now be most vulnerable.
His logic was to consider you have it till proven that you don’t. He went on to elaborate on why people should be taking this more seriously then they are. Saying, “Think about others in every decision you make in the coming weeks. This isn’t A drill. We already have enough news from Italy Iran Korea and China about the best ways to slow this…”
The heartbreaking post was shared along with a video of him and his son’s connecting across a glass window as he keeps himself away. If he took these measures even just about a week ago we might have considered them drastic but at this point, this is what is the need of the hour.
While this post raised alarms as to whether Diplo had been exposed to the virus or even had it, he took to his stories later to clarify that he has not tested positive for covid-19 but literally explained how everyone should currently operate under the assumption that they have it. He went on to write, “The minute everyone acts like that is the minute the clock starts to contain it. We are very far from that moment still. And [until] then our lives will change.”
Diplo is also using his time in quarantine to stream live sets on his working with a number of different artists to join in every day. Speaking about what he’s calling “Corona Sabbath”, Diplo said, “While we’re all in self-imposed quarantine and I’m grounded from playing shows I am going to get creative and make up random sets and shows live from my house.”
The DJ and producer also live-streamed ‘A Very Lazer Sunday,’ so stay tuned to Diplo’s social media handles where he goes live with sets from home almost every day right now, and of course for classic Diplo content for some comedic relief in times like these.
