Iconoclast, Olivier Chastan‘s music rights and brand management company, has now acquired Diplo’s entire Mad Decent Publishing catalog in its entirety.

Since establishing Mad Decent with his manager and business partner Kevin Kusatsu in 2006, the label has been home to some of the biggest hits from “Lean On (featuring MØ and DJ Snake),” “Cold Water (featuring Justin Bieber and MØ)” and Mark Ronson’s “Nothing Breaks Like A Heart (featuring Miley Cyrus).”

Founded only in 2021, former head of Iconic Artists Group, Olivier Chastan started Iconoclast and has been quietly acquiring assets small and large. He added that his new acquisition vehicle has a “strong focus on technology”, including immersive entertainment and blockchain, and added that, “we want to drive the conversion to make legacy artists relevant in the future of entertainment”.

In a statement about their latest acquisition, Chastan described the versatile Mad Decent catalog as “one of the most exciting and original catalogs where Brazilian Baile Funk and Angolan Kuduro mix with EDM and pop.”

He went on to share, “Our acquisition of the Mad Decent Publishing catalog illustrates our commitment to preserving and growing culturally significant art of any era including with artists that are shaping contemporary music.”

Joining a host of other artists from the world of music who have sold their catalogs in the recent past, Diplo now joins Swedish House Mafia, Calvin Harris, and Justin Beiber, to name just a few.

While it hasn’t been revealed what the financial details of this deal were, it was revealed by Music Business Worldwide that over multiple acquisitions over the past year, Iconoclast had spent around $300 million.
