The ongoing situation with regard to the COVID-19 pandemic has meant that going online has become the way by which almost every activity is being conducted nowadays.
It is almost impossible for large groups of people to meet together anywhere in the world, and so we have seen sports events, for example, take place but in the absence of fans, while music concerts have had to be cancelled or postponed due to this as well.
At the same time, online events have become extremely popular, with many online concerts and performances to keep fans entertained in their homes during such times. It is not just music that has gone online though. Students have been taking classes virtually for months now, while movies are being released online, and sports events have also become viewable only on the internet or on TV. Gambling, too, has had to adapt, with gambling fans unable to visit casinos due to the pandemic, and thus deprived of the thrill of being at the casino table and interacting with the dealer and their fellow players. However, casinos have also gone online as a result, with many online casino providers now offering games with a live dealer as well, to try and replicate the casino floor environment. In terms of online entertainment, DJ Khaled, one of the most popular music artists today, was also set to host an online event, but it will not be a performance or concert.
The musician has spoked at a virtual event for Canisius College, in a talk named ‘How I Came Up’. He has shared his personal success story and thus imparts some wisdom to students on how to follow their dreams and find success as well. This event was conducted by Canisius’ Opportunity Programs for Education (COPE) and its Office of Academic Talent Search, with the talk being held through a private Zoom call for students, and being streamed for the general public on the Facebook page of the Office of Academic Talent Search.
Khaled has literally risen from the streets to be one of the biggest music artists in the world. He has multiple hits, including the multi-platinum Billboard Hot 100 No.1 ‘I’m the One’ alongside Justin Beiber, Quavo, Chance The Rapper and Lil Wayne, the multiple-platinum ‘Wild Thoughts’ featuring Rihanna and Bryson Tiller, and the double-Platinum ‘No Brainer’, once again with Beiber, Quavo and Chance The Rapper. His 2019 album, ‘Father of Asahd’, went to the top of the charts, getting a Platinum certification and also became his third consecutive No. 2 album on the Billboard Top 200. He has sold over 20 million singles and 6 million albums, while also garnering over 4 billion streams on various music streaming sites.
All of this shows just how successful he has been, with a new album called ‘Khaled Khaled’ also dominating the charts – the songs ‘POPSTAR’ and ‘GREECE’ featuring Drake both debuted in the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts, and were certified Platinum and Gold respectively. He also has a record label, We The Best Music, while a charitable foundation called We The Best Foundation works towards uplifting underserved communities throughout the USA. He has also been working to support COVID-19 relief efforts, collaborating with U2 frontman Bono to become an ambassador for Project Red. Thus, with such diverse experiences, Khaled has become a role model for young students, and so it will be extremely informative and inspiring for them to listen to him talk about the struggle behind his success, and hopefully, that can inspire them to work towards achieving their own goals and dreams as well, no matter what the circumstances.
