DJ Tiesto married haute couture model and love of his life Annika Backes in a very romantic desert wedding in Utah on Saturday.
The now-married couple got engaged two years ago in the Maldives. The pictures of the engagement can be found on Tiesto’s Instagram saying “I’m gonna spend the rest of my life with the love of my life”
The marriage took place in the Amangiri resort, Utah which is of desert terrain. Annika Backes in an interview with Vogue said, “We love silence and the scenery that makes you feel like you are on another planet. The contrast of the architecture with the desert is a perfect balance. It looks like you are in a James Bond movie, and that’s some of the aesthetic we were going for. We wanted it to be glamorous, romantic, and sexy, while still being natural and intimate, so we rented out the entire resort for the weekend for our 80 guests.”
The couple was well dressed for their wedding. The godfather of all EDM expressed his love for “James bond and everything he stands for” by rocking a tom Brady suit and Annika graced the occasion in a Berta.
As for how he felt about the wedding, Tiësto commented, “I felt overwhelmed with emotions because we have been in love for so long and thinking about this day forever, and then it was finally here. It was more beautiful and more special than I could have ever imagined. To see everyone, I love there and then to see the love of your life walking down the aisle; it is the best feeling in the world.”
The marriage was followed up with a night club themed reception with DJ Coleman on the decks, where the legend surprised Annika with a new song written exclusively by him called “million voices” to which the couple danced to, the night ended with fireworks.
The now husband and wife first met in 2015 and after venturing into Coachella together that year, they have been glued to each other ever since.
