Facebook introduces ‘Music Stores’ for newsfeed

Starting today, Facebook is rolling out a new feature this week that sees the popular social media platform introducing new music streaming abilities for users.

The new feature gives users (only iOS users for now) the ability to create “Music Stories”, allowing them to share 30 second snapshots of their favorite songs from streaming services Spotify & Apple Music. The best part is that you don’t need to be a subscriber or have Spotify or Apple Music installed to sample your friends’ tunes.

Facebook’s goal with Music Stories is to make music an integral element of the Facebook experience, and the platform intends to include more streaming services in addition to Spotify and Apple Music in the future.

“As Facebook has become the place where most people get their news, and with its rapidly growing video platform pulling in a staggering 8 billion views a day, getting back into music was the next logical step.”
