Some Walmart+ customers are seriously fed up and they’re not staying quiet about it.
Shoppers have taken to social media to blast Walmart after realizing that canceling their free Paramount+ subscription (a popular Walmart+ perk) isn’t as simple as it sounds. In fact, several customers claim that if you try to cancel just Paramount+, it forces you to cancel your entire Walmart+ membership perks and all.
One longtime subscriber, Brian, called out Walmart directly on X, asking:
“@Walmart why is it so hard to cancel your Paramount subscription without canceling your entire subscription? Are they making it harder to do this on purpose?”
After struggling to cancel, Brian said he ultimately gave up ditching his full Walmart+ membership to escape the tangled cancellation process.
Walmart responded, saying they were looking into it, but it’s unclear if the situation was resolved. As of now, neither Walmart nor Paramount+ has publicly clarified if this “all-or-nothing” cancellation process is intentional or just poor user design.
Why Customers Are So Mad
- Walmart+ Membership ($12.95/month or $98/year) includes perks like free deliveries, gas discounts, and Paramount+ streaming.
- Canceling Paramount+ through Walmart+ seems to cancel the entire Walmart+ subscription.
- For many, that means losing way more than just a streaming service.
While some customers could theoretically just ignore Paramount+ and keep the rest of their Walmart+ benefits, people understandably want the ability to manage individual perks without losing everything they paid for.
Deals Still Rolling for Loyal Walmart+ Members
Despite the backlash, Walmart is pressing forward with Walmart+ Week, offering:
- 50 cents off every gallon of gas
- Free sandwiches at Burger King (up to two daily)
- A free Express Delivery order
- $5 in Walmart Cash
- Six months of Paramount+ with Showtime (an upgraded streaming plan)
If you’re thinking about joining Walmart+ for the streaming perks or you already have it be aware that canceling just Paramount+ might not be an easy, separate option (yet).
With exclusive discounts rolling out through May 4, Walmart is banking on loyal members staying put, even as cancellation complaints pile up.
