The rumor mills have been turning and the fans have been hoping, and while we still have no official confirmation, close sources have informed Billboard that the Dutch superstar is set to make his comeback after four long years.

Hardwell has been away from the live music scene since he took his fans by shock when he announced in a social media post back in September of 2018 that he will be taking an “indefinitely” long break from touring to clear his hectic schedule and spend time with her friends and family.

Ultra Music Festival will be making its come back to its home at Bayfront Park in Miami after 3 years from two consecutive years being canceled due to the pandemic and the 2019 edition being hosted in Virginia Key.

Since Ultra began the phased reveal of their star-stacked lineup, a blurred “exclusive” headliner had heads turning. Strategically located on the alphabetic lineup between “G” and “I” Hardwell seemed to be a likely choice.

Further confirming that the exclusive act will be closing out the festival in the recent stagewise lineup announcement, the organizers have teased saying Sunday’s closing act would be filled by “one of the most iconic artists in electronic music history.”

As reported by Billboard, Hardwell was apparently in talks with Ultra about making a comeback with new music during the 2020 edition which was unceremoniously canceled due to the pandemic.

While Swedish House Mafia made their iconic surprise comeback to close Ultra Miami 2018, Hardwell making his comeback along with new music sounds like a fitting return for the Dutch legend.

Speaking about what he can expect, sources have said to Billboard that Hardwell will debut new music at this year’s festival and that his new sound is a departure — or evolution — from his previous, commercially focused work. Hardwell’s friend and fellow Dutch DJ, Laidback Luke, told Billboard in October that he had heard some of the new music, saying he was “so proud of him, and his new album is going to be incredible.”

In exactly a week from now, all doubts of who this exclusive headliner is will be laid to rest as Ultra Music Festival makes its triumphant post-pandemic return to its original home at Bayfront Park, Miami.
