The golden boy of hardstyle – Headhunterz declared that he is quitting the contest and stated his reasons on his video.
Voted 7 times as the top hard dance act on DJ Mag Top 100, DJ Headhunterz believes that it is the best move for his career and personal life at this moment.
Here is one statement from the video –
“Also, for me personally, I feel the need to take that weight off my shoulders — to have the feeling that I have to hold up this position as the number one hard dance act — it doesn’t feel right anymore”.
The Dutch Hardstyle artist also went on to state that he did not spot the people in the list that he admired and respected. He stated an example out of his partner and longtime friend Wildstylez who has had an amazing year. He also pointed out that the magazine poll is turning out to be more of a popularity contest every year.
This is not the first time that the artists spoke out against the Controversial magazine. Here is Dillon francis giving his few words on the poll.
Garuda label boss Gareth Emery also made a parody on the same issue.
With many artists calling out, the club booking/promoting market might finally understand that the list has lesser gravity over the audience.
