Joining forces on a collaborative project, Kaskade and deadmau5 shared they will be debuting their ‘Kx5’ project with their first release coming on March 11th, with “Escape (feat. Hayla).”

While this collaboration has been a decade and a half in the making, this is not the first time the two have worked together back in 2008 on the game-changing “I Remember” later followed by “Move For Me.” The GRAMMY-nominated artists’ paths crossed again on 2016’s ominous “Beneath with Me” featuring Skylar Grey.

“Escape (feat. Hayla)” will be jointly released under deadmau5 and Kaskade’s respective labels, mau5trap, and Arkade on March 11th and is already available to be Pre-saved here.

In July 2021, Kaskade made history as the first public concert performed at Los Angeles’ SoFi Stadium. The sold-out show featured a surprise set by deadmau5 and had the two artists reuniting again for a set to close the show. As Kx5, deadmau5 and Kaskade are primed to write their own history.

In an exclusive interview about the new project with Dancing Astronaut, Kaskade went on to share how Covid in a way made this project a reality sharing, “I mean after COVID, I’m just like, I want do stuff that I want do. I’m like let’s do something fun, and like Joel said, we get along and make good music together, so let’s do that.”

He went on to further elaborate on the relationship between the two iconic artists and Kx5 saying, “I don’t think I’ve said this to Joel before, but I think we both understand this inherently. It’s like, that’s the best part about collaborating, and certainly with Joel, because I have a huge amount of respect for him as a musician and as a human being. So for me, I sent him an idea a couple weeks ago. Like, ‘dude, I can’t.’ There’s that wall you hit sometimes when you’re working sometimes and you’re like, ‘oh, I made this track in seven hours and I love it. It’s awesome,’ and you go home and eat dinner. There are other times you hit a wall and you’re like, ‘yeah, I don’t know what to do here.’ The best part about working with somebody that you respect so much is like, ‘oh, let me bounce this down and see what Joel hears.’ So I didn’t have to sit here and bang my head against the screen. I could just send it to him and he can make it awesome.”

Echoing the same sentiment, deadmau5 added, “I’ve had like about two years of literally not even stepping foot in my studio. And then just in the last, three weeks, I went in there and then cranked out nine tracks in 10 days, you know? And that includes some of our collaborations and some new stuff that I’ve done on my own. So, it’s more of a you know, if you’re feeling it kind of thing.”

In addition to the debut track dropping on March 11th, the duo will also be making their live debut together at the famed EDC Las Vegas as Kx5 this May! This performance will hopefully be the first of many by the iconic duo. Stay tuned for more updates here and on their socials.
