Along with a number of varied industries worldwide, one that has come to a screeching halt in the light of the COVID-19 Global pandemic is the entertainment industry and more so specifically the live music industry.

While practically any and every music event in the near future stands either cancelled or postponed, this means everyone who helps set these up is without a job and pay for the foreseeable future. Live event crews which consist of light and sound engineers, the teams producing and building up the event spaces and stages, etc. who are all mostly independent contractors foresee no pay for the near future.

In an attempt to help these communities of workers make it through these times, Live Nation has launched Crew Nation, which is a fund which will help support live music crews in any which way through these tough times. The initiative will be powered by Music Forward Foundation, a charitable 501c3 organization.

Live Nation is one of the worlds leading live entertainment companies. Following their motto of being ‘Artist powered and fan-driven,’ the company are the ones behind bringing about 40,000 shows and 100+ festivals to life.

The company themselves has already pledged $10 Million to Crew Nation, they’ve put forward $5 million already and will further be matching the next $5 million given by artists, fans and employees dollar for dollar.

As per the official website, the fund already has industry support from the likes of Coldplay, Lady Gaga, Billie Eilish, U2 and a lot more who have pledged and done their bit.

“Live music inspires millions around the world, but the concerts we all enjoy wouldn’t be possible without the countless crew members working behind the scenes. As COVID-19 puts concerts on pause, we want to extend a helping hand to the touring and venue crews who depend on shows to make a living.

Crew Nation was created to do just that.

Crew members are the backbone of the live music industry, and we hope you’ll join us in supporting them through this temporary intermission until we can once again unite millions around the world through the power of live music.”
