While there were high hopes just weeks ago that most summer festivals will be able to go on as planned and wouldn’t face the wrath of the Coronavirus global pandemic, that doesn’t seem to be the case anymore.

After a slew of festivals which were over the next couple of months, like Ultra Music Festival Miami, Coachella and Tomorrowland Winter, got canceled, there still seemed to be hope to “#SaveTheSummer.”

This however soon seems to dwindle at as fast a rate as the pandemic is ravaging countries globally. From the anticipated 50th edition of Glastonbury announcing their cancellation, another festival in the UK is following suit.

The Manchester-based Parklife Festival announced today that the festival will be canceling its 2020 edition and announced they will return on 12th & 13th June 2021.

This edition of the festival was due to be headlined by Tyler the Creator, Skepta, Lewis Capaldi, and Khalid. The event was scheduled to take place in Heaton Park on June 13 and 14.

Co-founder of the festival Sacha Lord tweeted:” A decision that hasn’t been taken lightly. The safety of our customers, staff, and artists come first. We will be back bigger and bolder in 2021. Thank you for your support as ever. Stay safe x #Parklife21

They also said ticket holders will be entitled to refunds but can opt to keep the ticket to be used for next year’s festival instead. They also urged attendees not to contact the ticketing agents at least for the next 5 days, since they are already overwhelmed and will be reaching out to ticket holders with their options for a refund or a carry forward to the next year.
