The legal woes for hip-hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs continue to mount, as prosecutors in the Southern District of New York add new allegations to their already voluminous case as he heads to trial.
A new federal indictment filed Thursday accuses Combs of subjecting employees to forced labor, using physical and psychological intimidation to maintain control of his business empire. That’s the latest in a long list of charges he faces that includes racketeering, sex trafficking, kidnapping, and assault.
New Allegations of Forced Labor

According to prosecutors, Combs and his co-defendants made employees work long hours with minimal time off; some were victims of physical force, financial threats, or psychological manipulation. The indictment says that some employees were afraid to resist his wishes for fear of losing their jobs or worse.
The most disturbing claim, however, is that he forcibly made at least one employee perform sex acts through threats and coercion. The indictment expressed the extent of the toxic work environment wherein fear governed compliance, and Combs is alleged to have leveraged his power to control not only his business but also his subordinates.
Combs’ Defense Pushes Back

It didn’t take long for Combs’ lawyers to respond to the new indictment. In a statement, lawyers for the music mogul denied he’d done anything wrong. “Mr. Combs has said it and will say it again: he categorically denies the accusations made by the SDNY,” said Agnifilo. “Many former employees stand by his side, prepared to attest to the dedication, hard work, and inspiration they experienced while helping build groundbreaking, award-winning businesses.”
Combs remains jailed after several denials of bond requests, but his defense team said he will be vindicated. His trial on charges including sex trafficking and racketeering is set to begin May 5.
A Growing Case Against Combs

Combs has faced increasing legal difficulties since his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura filed a bombshell lawsuit against him in November 2023, alleging years of physical and emotional abuse. He quickly settled that case, but it opened the floodgates for dozens of other accusations spanning decades.
The government portrayed Combs as the orchestrator of a criminal enterprise, responsible for everything from sex trafficking to arson. The indictment explains a pattern of abuse and coercion that had been sustained, and the business empire seemed to be an organization of criminal elements rather than entertainment.
What’s Next?
With the trial two months away, prosecutors will continue to build evidence against Diddy, possibly introducing a host of witnesses. The charges are serious, with a long list of alleged victims, and Combs’ lawyers have a steep hill to climb in court.
If he is convicted, Combs may be imprisoned for decades. As he prepares for what could be the most consequential legal fight of his life, his once-glittering music and business empire hangs in the balance.
