So here’s the entire Skrillex, Bieber lawsuit story, with all the details and reactions from the artists involved and others.
Earlier this week, songwriter Casey Dienel filed a lawsuit against Justin Bieber, Skrillex and the other producers involved in the track ‘Sorry’ for their identical use of the “unique female vocal riff” in her song “Ring The Bell” which was released under the moniker of White Hinterland. Dienel, who has been after Bieber’s team since December is now asking for a cease and desist as well as compensation for use of the track. Check out the two tracks below:
Yea, now you know why this is such a big issue. The vocal riff is clearly identical and could well have been taken from the original track, and both parties are pretty pissed.
Skrillex on the other hand, posted the following video defending himself and the team that produced ‘Sorry’.
Now as you can see, Skrillex believes, or rather asserts that that’s where the sample came from. Okay, fair argument.
How about we ask Diplo? TMZ caught up with Diplo recently who didn’t actually defend team Bieber by saying “Somebody added it, then didn’t tell anybody”. He even stated that he belived this issue was resolved way back in December, guess it had not… Check it out:
So now we’ve heard it from Casey, Skrillex & Diplo. How about we let the mau5 give his opinions as well… (As expected, Joel did not hold back one bit).

.@genneo1 *sigh* it has nothing to do with "sampling"… phrasing and melody alone are enough. I rekon she has a really good case.

@TonyBlazze1 again, this isnt a case involving sampling, you idiot.

I believe everyone agrees that one or some of the many producers on Bieber’s album are to blame for this. Question is who? Either way, as Diplo stated, Bieber’s legal team has to handle it and they won’t let it go to court. That’s how it is guys, you don’t get anything unless you make enough noise and when you do, that’s when the settlement offer comes to the table.
Stay tuned for more updates! Till then, how about you tell us in the comments below who you think is in the wrong here.
