Southern Soul Festival brings in extraordinary acts for its 6th edition, taking place from 28 June through 1 July on the Velika Plaza beach in Ulcinj, introducing the majestic R+R=NOW, a first time collaboration of some of the greatest world-renowned American musicians in jazz music on one stage together: ROBERT GLASPER, TERRACE MARTIN, CHRISTIAN SCOTT, DERRICK HODGE, TAYLOR MCFERRIN, JUSTIN TYSON.
R+R=NOW is a unique collaboration of world-class musicians including three-time Grammy Award-winning pianist and record producer Robert Glasper; musician, rapper, singer and record producer Terrace Martin, currently on tour with Herbie Hancock; trumpeter, composer and producer Christian Scott; Grammy Award-winning bassist, composer, record producer and musical director Derrick Hodge; music producer, keyboardist and beat-boxer Taylor McFerrin and drummer extraordinaire Justin Tyson. Their tour is a once-in-a-lifetime project that will result in an album to be released in 2018 and an incredible performance not to be missed.
Other confirmed international acts include NATIVE DANCER, the new troubadours of psychedelic soul from London; the legendary IDRIS ACKAMOOR AND THE PYRAMIDS, a freewheeling Afro-futurist jazz collective; MARCELLUS PITTMAN, Detroit house veteran; TAMA SUMO, resident DJ at Berghain/Panorama Bar in Berlin; MARK GRUSANE, Chicago legend of eclectic taste; GLENN UNDERGROUND, one of the deepest of the deep house producers from Chicago; DJ SPEN, one of the most sought-after DJs in the US; LAKUTI, a South African born DJ and dance dame; ZEPHERIN SAINT, enigmatic producer and founder of Tribe records; PAUL TROUBLE ANDERSON, the legendary master mix DJ and club pioneer from London; PHIL ASHER, an integral figure in London’s dance music community; THE MIGHTY ZAF, a world renown soul vinyl enthusiast; AFSHIN, founder of the Paris most soulful club Djoon; KAMMA and MASALO, considered as the new wave of Amsterdam music creatives. Family members LAY FAR, SHUYA OKINO, DOM SERVINI, EDDY RAMICH, BE GOOD and MARKO PAVLOVIC are also present.
