Spotify has done it once again! After announcing it’s lite version on android, Spotify announced the launch of a new consideration feature, on Wednesday, which will make it easier for artists and labels to submit unreleased music to the Spotify editorial team, which will be considered for their playlists. This feature will first see a beta launch, which will then be modified, after they receive feedback from all their partners, followed by a full roll out.

Let’s deep dive into how this will work. Artists and labels who have Spotify accounts can log in, into Spotify analytics, select an unreleased song for playlist consideration and hit submit. It is, a simple 3 step process, which will improve the way content owners interact with the editorial team at Spotify w.r.t unreleased tunes. However, before hitting submit, it will be important for artists and labels to give Spotify information, about the track they submit. They will specify its genre, mood and other data points, which will ultimately help them make decisions, about which playlist the song may fit in, according to the announcement.

After this announcement a Spotify spokesperson said, that this new product is just the first step in the process to connect music to the right people.

Nick Holmsten, the Vice President of Content and Global Head of Shows and Editorial at Spotify says – “The number one question we get from labels, artists and their teams is: who do I speak to to get on Rap Caviar, Hot Country, ¡Viva Latino! Ultimate Indie or other Spotify playlists?”

He goes on to saying –

“We’ve listened to feedback from the creative community, and developed a new feature that enables them to easily submit unreleased music for playlist consideration to our entire worldwide team of playlist editors.” Isn’t that amazing?

To add to that, the announcement also explained that if unreleased songs were released seven days in advance, the song would appear in every one of their followers’ Release Radar playlists. This way artists’ and labels will have control, over which single they want to promote to their fans as reported by Variety.

The announcement also informed all the listeners that – “We want to make something crystal clear: no one can pay to be added to one of Spotify’s editorial playlists. Our editors pick tracks with listeners in mind. They make these decisions using data about what’s resonating most with their community of listeners.”

Well, it is good to know that, only data and editors across the globe will be responsible to drive this feature, to make sure, music meets their fans. Having said that, what do you think about this feature? Tell us below!
