Starbucks is presenting customers with a fresh way to fuel up on protein.
The coffee company has brought out Protein Lattes and Protein Cold Foam beverages in stores across the country, beginning September 29, capitalizing on the increasing trend for protein beverages.
The new menu features ready-to-go protein-rich beverages and customization options where customers can add protein cold foam in a favorite flavor or protein-enhanced milk to any drink. Prices are store-based, with protein cold foam added for $2 and protein milk swaps for $1.
Starbucks Global Chief Brand Officer Tressie Lieberman clarified that the new proteins are included as part of the company’s overall Back to Starbucks initiative to update its menu. CEO Brian Niccol, who joined in September 2024, highlighted that the company is focused on staying relevant, innovative, and desirable. “Our new protein drinks harness the increasing consumer demand for protein in a creative, premium and tasty manner that only Starbucks can provide,” Lieberman stated.
This launch follows the company’s announcement on September 25 that it would cut about 900 jobs and close over 400 underperforming locations to align with its turnaround plan.
