Back in 2021, the legends Daft Punk announced they were disbanding and now one half of the duo, Thomas Bangalter has nearly two years later announced he will be releasing his very first solo full length album since titled ‘Mythologies’ on April 7, 2023.

The album titled ‘Mythologies’ was originally made for a ballet of the same name choreographed by Angelin Preljocaj and premiered at the Orchestre National Bordeaux Aquitaine. The album has been in the works since 2019 when Preljocaj invited Bangalter to create a score for the house’s resident orchestra.

As per the official Press release, they explained how this project was ever so different than his work with Daft Punk stating, “The form, the stakes and the creative process involved in Mythologies are all radically different and represent a new stage in Bangalter’s development over the last thirty years of writing, composing and performing music, during which time he has explored the world of technology and the relationship between humankind and machines in his seminal work with Daft Punk.”

It went further to explain the main difference stating how this score drew force from a traditional symphony saying, “This score does not draw on the resources of electronic music but instead involves the large-scale traditional force of a symphony and, as such, it embraces the history of orchestral ballet music in a gesture that is both personal and collaborative.”

The 23-track album is now available for pre-order and will be out April 7, 2023. Pre-Order for the audio CD and vinyl, as well as to pre-save across streaming services for ‘Mythologies’ can be found here.
