TIDAL error reactivates users’ accounts and charges them

An “error” in the system caused TIDAL users’ accounts to be reactivated, which also led to users being charged.

Remember TIDAL? The star-studded company that promised to change the streaming industry forever? Well its back in the news and again, not for the right reasons.

TIDAL recently started re-activating its users’ accounts and charged $19.99 for a TIDAL HiFi subscription. This ofcourse led the company to issue out an email to all of its users stating,

Dear User,

We are sorry to inform you that due to an error, you have been billed 19.99$ for a TIDAL subscription.
We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience, and have already refunded the amount to your account. However, it can take from 2-5 business days to show up on your credit card statement.
In addition to the full refund, we have also given you free access to TIDAL Premium for the next three months as a compensation. Your TIDAL account is now active, and you can log in with your existing username and password.
Again, we apologize for this, and appreciate your patience and understanding.

Thank you.

Now was this an ‘error’ or was it intentional to kinda remind its previous users, “Hey we exist; please don’t forget us. Here’s a free 3 month subscription; do us a favour and use our service”? Can’t really say (though I’m pretty sure its possible).

Anyway, TIDAL did refund the money and yes gave its users a free 3 month subscription. Though each account was set to ‘auto renew’ and charge users $9.90 at the end of the free trial period. Smart huh? Ofcourse this led to a huge outcry and TIDAL has since corrected their second ‘error’.

What do you think? Was this just another stunt by the company or did they genuinely make a mistake this time? (Either way are users really gonna pick TIDAL over Apple Music or Spotify?) Have your say in the comments below.
