While the main festival in Belgium was postponed earlier this year from its original July dates to later dates in the fall, Tomorrowland: Around The World is set to return for its second virtual edition during the original dates this summer.

As reported by Billboard, in a conversation earlier this week Michiel Beers, co-founder of Tomorrowland, said “We’re still positive, although we realize we’re in a very complex situation.” Sources also confirmed to them that plans were underway for the second installment of Tomorrowland: Around The World in July.

With the 2020 edition and the first edition of Tomorrowland: Around The World being a roaring success, the festival was one of the earliest virtual festivals to be ticketed. Also being one of the first major festivals to go digital, Tomorrowland: Around the World sold nearly 140,000 tickets and compensated artists on a royalty-sharing compensation scheme based on overall ticket sales.

While a number of large festivals are hanging on to their hopes to host a Fall 2021 edition across August – October, including Tomorrowland 2021 which has currently been pushed to August 27-29 and September 3-5, 2021.

Tomorrowland organizers told Billboard on Wednesday that they expect the Belgian government to provide more information regarding safety protocols, rules, regulations, and restrictions on May 11. This will help them make a more informed decision whether it is realistically possible to host a Fall 2021 edition or if postponing to 2022 remains to be the only viable option.

In the meantime, stay tuned to the official site for more details and a formal announcement of the return of the virtual festival, and let this stunning aftermovie from Tomorrowland Around The World 2020 get you excited for what’s in store.
