Review: Carnage – Papi Gordo

0

DJ/Producer Carnage (who’s real name is Diamonte Blackmon) has exploded globally while maintaining his roots (born in Guatemala City, Guatemala but raised in Los Angeles, California). From trap to EDM, Carnage has been breaking barriers throughout his career.

While destroying dance-floors everywhere, globally traveled and is a well known enthusiast of all things Chipotle (the popular Mexican food restaurant franchise), what’s next for Carnage? – His first studio album!!!

Carnage-Is-Papi-Gordo

Titled “Papi Gordo” which is out now on Ultra Music, here is my track by track review of the 15 songs, running time total of 53 minutes. Enjoy!

1. “Gordo” by Carnage featuring Rick Ross & araabMUZIK.

Slow start up with a nice little intro to get things started.

2. “Bricks” by Carnage featuring Migos

Coming out strong with killer bass.

3. “The Mud” by Carnage featuring OG Maco

Strong lyrics & hypothesizing chill.

4. “RGV” by Carnage featuring Milo & Otis

Surprising twists that are sure to blow your mind.

5. “I Like Tuh” by Carnage feat. ILoveMakonnen

Mad bass. Lyrics are simple but yet work.

6. “WDYW” by Carnage featuring Lil Uzi Vert, ASAP Ferg, and Rich The Kid

Usually I am not a fan of lots of artists on a song since it tends to get complicated but this comes together great with a strong melody that works without destroying the basic fundamentals of the song.

7. “BTFWD” by Carnage featuring Junkie Kid

Killer build up & a smashing finish!

8. “The Sound” by Carnage featuring Junkie Kid

Definitely a song that will became a favorite.

9. “Bootshaus” by Carnage featuring Whyel

Not to be outdone, rising above to get your mid afternoon slumps going.

10. “Toca” by Carnage featuring Timmy Trumpet and KSHMR

No matter the type of music you like, this song is guaranteed to get you moving. Mad skills coupled with the EDM pumping flare, this tune is definitely a festival favourite.

11. “Warrior” by Carnage featuring Dirtcaps and Jo Mersa

A reggae feeling but still with the raging energy.

12. “Can You Feel It?” by Carnage and Atmozfears featuring TY Dolla $ign

A change up from the rest of the songs but still has the energy that is defined throughout the album.

13. “November Skies” by Carnage featuring Tomas Barfod and Nina Kinert

The vocals are amazing, bringing a light to the harder style carnage is known for & showing diversity in his ever changing musical explorations.

14. “Back That” by Carnage

Perfect sound to set the mood with dope lyrics, just the right hint of sexy & definitely sets the tone.

15. “Take Me” by Carnage

Tight lyrics with commanding bass line. Something to get your night started with. The vocals define the song & make the vibe chill perfect.

So in conclusion, Carnage’s debut album delivers what has become the music of the current EDM generation. If you prefer some serious sick beats and mad drops, then put on your headphones, turn off the lights & enjoy!!

You can purchase the album here.
