The city was buzzing as dance music heavyweight, Borgore, made his way to Mumbai for his debut show, ready to turn up the heat at Kitty Su. Fresh of his exploits at the Enchanted Valley Carnival, Borgore’s return to India was well overdue.
Known for his experimental bent and diverse productions, Borgore’s music can be classified anywhere between Electro, Trap and Dubstep. Making massive noise on the beatport charts and a string of highly successful releases, we waited with baited breath to head to the club to see what the dance mogul had up his sleeve this time.
Weaseling our way through the crowd, we were greeted with a refreshing wave of trap music by the local hero, Sickflip, who knows a thing or two about his song selection dropping both original productions as well as unreleased IDs amongst others.
Building up to the night, the club was packed to the brim and was quite a sight from our vantage point. The crowd roared as Borgore made his way onto the decks, only to receive a much louder applause as he opened with his smash hit ‘Incredible’ with Carnage. The speakers were on full blast, injecting the room with pounding big room electro much to the crowds delight. Dropping a collection of mainstream electro and jungle terror, the night progressed to a high intensity trap and dubstep section, with little room for sanity.
Props to Borgore for his skills on the mic as well as we were particularly amused with his constant lines on the mic. Well into the first hour the energy levels didn’t seem to deteriorate, and the dynamic one-drop mixing had the crowd on their feet all the time. The crowd was treated to a bunch of surprise tracks and a number of classics, with the crowd literally moshing around the place like it’s no one’s business. Borgore leaned towards future house in the dying hours of the night with Valentino Khan’s smash hit, Deep Down Low, only to bring the mayhem back with his classic weapons, “Nympho” and “Decisions”.
Undoubtedly this has been one of the best club shows that we’ve been to in a long time, more so with the raging music and the vibrant crowd. To top it off the venue played the perfect host to the fans and Borgore himself, with the detailed itinerary and proper management. Props to DimensionRED for pulling off a great event!
