Chris Eubank Jr. is all about the possibilities when it comes to his next fight.
After a dramatic win over Conor Benn last weekend, the British boxer is now eyeing a future filled with exciting matchups. In a recent interview with Sky Sports, Eubank Jr. spoke candidly about his options and hinted that the next chapter in his career could be massive.
“The possibilities are endless,” he said, emphasizing how boxing is a sport full of surprises. “Watch this space. Boxing is a very beautiful industry where anything can happen. The possibilities are endless. If the rematch with Conor Benn is meant to be, it will be. And if not, guess what? There are plenty of other amazing fights to be had and great things for me to achieve in the sport. So I’m happy either way.”
One name that keeps coming up for Eubank Jr.’s future is the legendary Mexican fighter, Saul “Canelo” Alvarez. The prospect of facing Canelo is one Eubank Jr. is clearly excited about. “That is another stadium filler, absolutely,” he said, referring to the massive appeal a fight between the two would have. “Wembley, Tottenham, or any one of the large football stadiums in the UK will be filled for a fight like that. He’s an opponent I’ve been looking at for many years now. The fans would love to see that.” Eubank Jr. is adamant that Canelo is now on his radar, and he will do whatever he can to secure that fight in the future.
But before fans get too hyped about future bouts, Eubank Jr. recently dealt with a post-fight health scare. After his victory over Benn, he was hospitalized, but he quickly dismissed rumors from Benn’s camp suggesting he had suffered a broken jaw. Eubank Jr. laughed off the claims, saying, “When you get into a fight for 12 rounds, there are injuries that are sustained. I got headbutted above my eye around the middle of the fight. It opened up, and I had to go and have surgery on that to sew it up.” He also refuted the story from Benn’s camp, adding, “Conor Benn and [his promoter] Eddie Hearn ran away with the story of a broken jaw. There’s no broken jaw here. We are strong. Our bones are dense.”
Eubank Jr. explained that hospital visits are just part of the process after intense bouts. “When you’re in a fight like that, you have to go to the hospital. You have to get tested and looked after,” he said, putting the rumors to rest.
For now, Chris Eubank Jr.’s future is up in the air, but one thing’s for sure: whatever happens next, the possibilities are endless, and the fans can expect some big-name showdowns in the future. With rematches, legends like Canelo, and a host of potential new rivals, Eubank Jr.’s career is anything but boring.
