Kylian Mbappe has made it crystal clear: his connection with Real Madrid teammate Vinicius Jr. is more than just solid, it’s essential.
Speaking to La Sexta, the French striker shut down any speculation that the two couldn’t share the spotlight at Los Blancos. “The relationship [with Vinícius] is good,” Mbappe said. “It’s normal that people want to talk about us, because we’re two famous players who can make a difference, but I came to Real Madrid with the idea of playing with Vini.”
Mbappe emphasized just how important the Brazilian is to his vision at the club. “I can’t imagine Madrid without Vini,” he said. “We play well together. We can always do better, the fans expect a lot from us and that’s fair. But I think we play well, and now at this stage of the season, we’re going to try to help Madrid as much as we can.”
Their on-field chemistry has been one of the highlights of Real Madrid’s 2024-25 season, with both players contributing heavily in goals, assists, and sheer attacking power. Despite initial doubts from pundits and fans over whether two high-profile wingers could coexist, Mbappe and Vinicius have proven they can thrive together.
Mbappe also opened up about his long-awaited transfer from PSG to Real Madrid, revealing that money wasn’t the driving factor in his decision. “I have no problems talking about money, but there are more important things. I wanted to play for Real Madrid. Money is important, but for me, the most important thing is being happy on the pitch and in life.”
The 25-year-old also addressed a rough patch in his form last December, when he missed a crucial penalty against Athletic Bilbao. “I know people and teammates who’ve had depression. I wasn’t playing well, but it wasn’t for mental health reasons,” he said. “I didn’t like it when people said that, because it’s a serious subject. In Bilbao I hit rock bottom in a sporting sense, not a mental one.”
As Real Madrid pushes forward in the Champions League and La Liga, the bond between Kylian Mbappe and Vinícius Jr. is proving to be a major asset. With both stars committed to the club and to each other, fans have every reason to believe this attacking duo is just getting started.
