Luka Dončić & LeBron Shine as Lakers Hold Off Clippers’ Late Push

The battle for Los Angeles delivered once again, with the Lakers securing a hard-fought 108-102 victory over the Clippers at Crypto.com Arena.

It was the sixth straight win for the Lakers, who continue their red-hot form in 2025.

Luka Dončić Leads the Charge

Luka Dončić was the driving force behind the Lakers’ win, delivering a stellar performance with 29 points, six rebounds, and nine assists. He dictated the pace of the game and hit crucial shots when the Lakers needed them the most. His ability to control the tempo and break down defenses was on full display.

LeBron James contributed with 17 points and nine assists, acting as the perfect floor general. Even at 40, his playmaking and leadership were pivotal in securing the win.

The Clippers’ Late Surge Falls Short

Despite trailing by as many as 21 points in the third quarter, the Clippers mounted a late comeback, cutting the deficit to just five points in the final minutes. Kawhi Leonard led the charge with a season-high 33 points and 10 rebounds, proving once again why he remains one of the league’s elite two-way players.

However, the Clippers’ rally fell short, with the Lakers making key defensive stops and icing the game at the free-throw line.

Key Absences and Injuries

The Lakers were without starters Rui Hachimura (knee) and Austin Reaves (calf). Reaves managed just nine minutes before exiting with right calf soreness and is set for further evaluation.

On the Clippers’ side, Norman Powell, who recently returned from a knee injury, suffered a hamstring issue in the first quarter and did not return.

Turning Point: Third Quarter Domination

The Lakers’ dominance in the third quarter proved to be the difference-maker. After going into halftime with a slim lead, they exploded in the third, stretching the advantage to 21 points. Dončić and Dalton Knecht (who contributed 19 points off the bench) played key roles in extending the lead.

With this win, the Lakers continue to cement themselves as serious contenders in the Western Conference. They now hold a 16-3 record since January 21, proving that their midseason adjustments are paying off.

The Clippers, meanwhile, have lost five of their last six games and need to find some answers fast if they want to stay in the playoff race.
