Mix Of The Week: Ekonovah

Ekonovah, the 23-year-old musician has already performed at EDC Las Vegas and Bonnaroo, as well as at a myriad of Space Yacht parties, and has has received plaudits from superstars like Tiesto, Afrojack, and Alison Wonderland.

He recently released his Floating EP.

Floating was produced in and inspired by quarantine, with Ekonovah capturing the feeling of floating from day to day. The EP marks a sonic transition for the songwriter – instead of creating music with heavy bass for a club system, Ekonovah switched his focus during quarantine to more personal and melodic sounds.

Ekonovah started playing piano at age 2, and began singing/songwriting/producing at 15. His sonic style lives somewhere between Porter Robinson and Tchami (both of whom have supported his previous releases) – blending clever sound design and refreshing composition with an emphasis on danceable grooves. Ekonovah has previously released music with labels including Insomniac’s In/Rotation, DND, and Bass Camp.

Although Space Yacht rarely signs EPs, the label immediately recognized Ekonovah’s vision to present the package as a body of work in its entirety.
