Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 has officially been confirmed by Activision. Set in the year 2035, the new game continues the legacy of the Black Ops franchise and follows directly on the heels of Black Ops 6, marking the first time two entries in the series have launched consecutively.
Developed by Treyarch and Raven Software, Black Ops 7 is being billed as the most “mind-bending” installment yet. The game brings back David Mason and drops players into a future ravaged by global conflict and psychological warfare. The villain this time doesn’t just use guns and drones — they weaponize fear itself.
Black Ops 7 will feature a cooperative campaign mode, a first for the series. It also includes classic round-based Zombies gameplay set in the heart of the Dark Aether, and a fully upgraded multiplayer experience with new maps and futuristic tech.
Matt Cox, General Manager of Call of Duty, emphasized that this game delivers the full package. The teaser cinematic sets the tone with one clear message: “Embrace the madness.” The shift to a near-future setting gives the developers room to push the boundaries of gameplay and narrative, especially after the ’90s backdrop of Black Ops 6.
Tyler Bahl from Activision’s marketing team confirmed that the teaser is only the beginning. The full reveal will drop later this summer. Until then, fans can expect breadcrumbs, hidden clues, and cryptic in-game messages teasing what’s to come.
Black Ops 7 is scheduled for release on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC via Battle.net, Steam, and Xbox PC. It will also be available Day One on Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass.
Players should expect a darker, more intense storyline, deeper gameplay mechanics, and one of the most ambitious narratives in Call of Duty history. For those who thought Black Ops couldn’t get any wilder, this is your warning — it’s about to.
