It’s official, Death Stranding 2: On The Beach has gone gold.
Kojima Productions confirmed today that the highly anticipated sequel is fully completed and ready to be shipped ahead of its June 26 release. So if you’ve been dying to dive back into Sam Bridges’ weirdly beautiful post-apocalyptic delivery gig, the wait’s almost over.
Hideo Kojima made the announcement on X (formerly Twitter), saying, “Death Stranding 2: On The Beach has gone gold. The journey begins soon – just a little longer until June 26.” After three years in development, the final version of the game is locked, loaded, and ready to mess with your head, just like the original did.
The game brings back Norman Reedus as Sam and Léa Seydoux as Fragile, but there’s a fresh wave of cast members joining the madness this time. We’re getting Troy Baker back as Higgs and new faces like Elle Fanning playing Tomorrow, Shioli Kutsuna as Rainy, Alastair Duncan as the President, Alissa Jung as Lucy, Luca Marinelli as Neil, and Debra Wilson as Doctor. So yeah, it’s stacked.
According to the game’s official description, Death Stranding 2: On The Beach takes Sam and his crew beyond the UCA in a desperate mission to save humanity from extinction. You’ll explore a world crawling with otherworldly enemies, insane challenges, and one seriously heavy question: should we have even tried to connect? It’s classic Kojima, high-concept, a little cryptic, and full of heart. Or existential dread. Maybe both.
This isn’t just a sequel for the sake of it. Kojima’s promising something that “changes the world once again,” and given how Death Stranding completely flipped the action genre on its head in 2019, you can bet this one’s aiming even higher. And with the game going gold, there’s no turning back. What we’re getting on June 26 is the final, polished experience.
Kojima fans know the man doesn’t do anything halfway. Whether it’s the surreal storylines, the star-studded cast, or those crazy cinematic cutscenes, Death Stranding 2: On The Beach looks like it’s going all in. And now that it’s officially done, there’s nothing left to do but count the days and prep for whatever bizarre, emotional trip Kojima’s about to drag us through.
