Bethesda has officially released The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, bringing the classic 2006 RPG into the modern era with a comprehensive overhaul. Developed in collaboration with Virtuos, the remaster is now available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store. It’s also included in Xbox Game Pass for console and PC users.
The remastered edition utilizes Unreal Engine 5 to deliver enhanced visuals, including high-resolution textures, improved lighting, and realistic shadows. Every asset has been recreated from scratch, and the game now runs at 4K resolution with 60 frames per second support. Audio enhancements feature re-recorded ambient sounds and environmental effects, while character animations and lip-syncing have been updated for a more immersive experience.
Gameplay improvements address long-standing issues from the original release. The user interface and control schemes have been redesigned for compatibility with current-generation hardware. Combat mechanics have been refined, introducing new animations and a sprint function. The leveling system has been adjusted to provide a more balanced progression experience.
The remaster includes all previously released downloadable content and expansions, such as “Knights of the Nine” and “Shivering Isles.” A Deluxe Edition is also available, offering additional quests, unique armor and weapon sets, a digital artbook, and the official soundtrack.
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is priced at $49.99 for the standard edition and $59.99 for the Deluxe Edition. For those subscribed to Xbox Game Pass, the game is accessible at no additional cost. This release offers both longtime fans and new players an opportunity to explore the richly detailed world of Cyrodiil with modern enhancements.
