Offline Mode Coming to ‘The Crew 2’ – Here’s What You Need to Know

Ubisoft has officially confirmed that ‘The Crew 2’ will soon be getting an offline mode, with user testing set to begin on April 30, 2025.

Fans of the popular 2018 racing game have been eagerly awaiting this update since it was first announced last September, and now the moment is almost here. The offline mode will allow players to enjoy the game without needing an internet connection, offering more flexibility for those who want to race without always being online.

In a recent video update on Ubisoft’s YouTube channel, the developer revealed that the progress on ‘The Crew 2’s offline mode has been smooth, and that the first phase of testing will be limited to PC players. However, there’s more in store for fans of the franchise. Ubisoft also confirmed that ‘The Crew: Motorfest’ will eventually get its own offline mode, though it won’t be available as soon as ‘The Crew 2’.

Grégory Corgié, the producer of ‘The Crew: Motorfest’, assured fans that while the focus is currently on maintaining the live-service aspect of the game, the team is working on a similar offline mode for ‘Motorfest’ in the near future. While details are still scarce, Corgié emphasized that ‘The Crew 2’ would be the first game to launch this feature, and it would be fully available before the end of 2025.

This offline mode announcement comes after some controversy surrounding Ubisoft’s decision to shut down ‘The Crew’ in 2014, which led to a class action lawsuit by players who believed they were purchasing full ownership of the game. Ubisoft responded by clarifying that players were, in fact, only purchasing a license to play the game, not unfettered ownership. Despite this legal battle, Ubisoft remains committed to improving and updating its racing games, much to the delight of fans.

For ‘The Crew 2’ players, the introduction of offline mode is a welcome change, offering a more flexible and accessible way to enjoy the game. Whether you’re in the mood for an online race or a solo ride, this new feature will give players the option to switch between modes at will.
