Amsterdam Dance Event 2018: A list of Techno Parties you must attend

It’s that time of the year again when everyone heads to Amsterdam to get their yearly dose of music along with socializing with other prominent people from the music industry. The perfect amalgamation of business and pleasure we may say?

Since the event has so many diverse gigs happening throughout those five days, we make the task of picking out shows easier for you. Here are some of the few techno gigs you MUST attend at ADE this year (provided they aren’t sold out already)!

17th October

1) Pan-Pot pres. Second State x De Marktkantine

An event you must visit. Housing some of the best names in the techno scene like Amelie Lens, Eats everything and a lot more, this event is one that will start of your ADE on a power-packed note.


2) Awakenings Hard Opening Night

Kickstarting on a hard note, the biggest techno festival in the world hosts their signature nights this year too. Start off with music from I Hate Models, Rebekah, DJ Rush and many more!

3) DJ Stingray

The first night of ADE at noorderschip brings us electro’s key figure and Detroit native DJ Stingray with a line-up curated by the man himself: DJ Nobu, Inga Mauer and SPFDJ. 
DJ Stingray is definitely one of the most impressive artists around. Not only because of his solid sets and productions, but also because of his trademark black balaclava, he is rarely seen without. The same can be said about DJ Nobu, minus the black balaclava that is. Fairly new on the block are the Russian Inga Mauer and SPFDJ who will add some industrial techno, new wave and maybe even some trance to the night too.

4) Paul Kalkbrenner Live

During Amsterdam Dance Event, the NDSM Shipbuilding Shed becomes a brooding Berlin bunker. Think: dark, endless nights and the magic of deep, exciting techno. As the king of the atmospheric techno Paul Kalkbrenner has everything to take you to his Berlin. And with the release of PK’s most ambitious and personal album ‘Parts of Life’ there is even more to look forward to.

5) Skatepark NOORD Pres: SkateRave ’18 with Joris Voorn & Friends

Joris Voorn’s love of hosting parties in unusual venues continues this October as he announces a collaboration with Serge from Clone Records and Skatepark NOORD, one of the Amsterdam skate community’s focal points. Taking place from 4pm-10pm on Wednesday 17 October, this special free event features DJs playing alongside Joris who share his love of skateboarding – either as skateboarders themselves or simply as passionate fans of the scene.

This 18+ event will see over 700 people enjoy the sounds of Dutch dance scene royalty Serge, Australian hotshot Francis Inferno Orchestra and Max Abysmal all play alongside Joris PLUS a very Special Guest TBA. Expect house, techno, disco and funk with a laid-back vibe, and the DJs playing from a podium above a dedicated dancefloor area while skaters making use of the skating facilities. Food and drinks will be available on the day.

18th October

1) Audio Obscura x Spectrum

Audio Obscura & Joris Voorn developed a formidable partnership over the last couple of years and partner up once again for a special night at Amsterdam’s Central Station. Joris will bring his Spectrum concept to the venue on 18 October.

2) Awakenings x Adam Beyer presents Drumcode ADE

A lot doesn’t really need to be said about this showcase. It practically speaks for itself. With some great acts straight off the Drumcode roster along with great production, this event is one you must add on your list.

3) DGTL presents Jeff Mills, Nina Kraviz, Bicep and more

Jeff Mills, Nina Kraviz and Bicep. Need we say more? Also, Bicep plays a live set!

4) Verknipt Techno Special

Dedicating their first day to Techno, Verknipt does full justice to the genre by hosting some of the most diverse techno acts. Split into three different areas, this event has something for everyone

5) Audio Obscura x Seth Troxler & Honey Dijon

Two of North-East America’s finest selectors are teaming up for the debut night at one of the most daring locations yet, Bijlmer Prison. Seth Troxler and Honey Dijon will be delivering the spirit of Detroit and Chicago with more than a dash of New York flair joined by local talent CARISTA.

6) Pursuit Showcase

A night that is a must attend for all minimal techno fans, this event hosts some of the most reputed names in the darker and eerier form of techno. From Joran Van Pol to Loco and Jam and many more, go get your dose of darkness from here

19th October

1) Audio Obscura x Stephan Bodzin

Audio Obscura invites Stephan Bodzin for first ever custom 4 hour live set in The Dutch National Maritime Museum for ADE.

2) Audio Obscura x Charlotte de Witte

For the first time ever, Audio Obscura and Charlotte de Witte are teaming up for an event and it’s set to be a big one, bringing over her bold and heavy techno sounds to Amsterdam’s Central Station for the second in a series of events at Lil’ Amsterdam. 
As one of the fastest rising stars in underground dance music, Charlotte de Witte is the perfect artist to partner up with during Amsterdam Dance Event. Winning over crowds left, right and center, there really seems to be no stopping for the Belgian trailblazer.
Charlotte de Witte will be performing an all-night set for 7-hours of banging techno music in Lil’ Amsterdam in Amsterdam Central Station, space rarely used for events of the type and scale.

3) Awakenings x Maceo Plex presents Mosaic

Another show that you must add to your list. Maceo will be bringing his Mosaic concept to Gashouder with a very well curated line-up.

4) DGTL x Paradise

Jamie Jones will bring his concept of Paradise to the NDSM for another collaboration with DGTL. As a fixture in our ADE programme it is a guarantee for success. The Paradise family will make you feel right at home in the midst of fetching house tunes and a wicked vibe.

5) Dave Clarke Pres. At Melkweg

The Baron of techno returns at ADE 2018 with his legendary Dave Clarke Presents night. By now one of the most anticipated and best household name of Amsterdam Dance Event. This 14th edition is going to be a journey through techno in its broadest sense. From the enticing grooves by Sam Paganini to the relentless industrial sound of Rebekah. Add the likes of Marcel Fengler, Mark Broom and a live performance by Octave One and you’re up for a techno trip with the best from the past to the future.

7) Richie Hawtin All Night x Loveland

Richie Hawtin all night will be a one-man show of one of the biggest icons of this time. This all-time legend will be playing an astonishing 6 hour-set. Don’t miss out on one the most exclusive performances of this year’s ADE at a unique location: Warehouse Houthavens.

8) VBX X FRRC

Amsterdam promotor VBX and Warehouse Elementenstraat will join forces at ADE 2018 to present you Ricardo Villalobos’ Frequency Resonance Remote Control. For this special occasion, the finest selection of artists will land at the Warehouse on Friday October 19th, providing you with the sound that works so perfectly in the industrial setting that characterizes this exceptional venue.

20th October

1) Audio Obscura x Mariel Ito @ Amsterdam Centraal Station

Maceo Plex’s alter ego Mariel Ito scheduled performance at Amsterdam Central Station, Audio Obscura completes their programming for the unique location. The event will take place on the 20th of October. It will be joined by Omnidisc and Lord of the Isles

5) Dockyard Festival

Dockyard Festival ADE 2018’s brazen and industrial energy joins forces with her sister, the Mystic Garden Festival in an unprecedented marriage of dark and light- industrial v.s. fairyland! This coming ADE you can walk through the Golden Gates of the Mystic Garden and be a part of Dockyard’s thunderous, industrial dystopia all in the same day!
This coming ADE 2018’s edition of Dockyard will exceed even last year’s splendor; full of colorful surprises and spectacular performances, this year’s Dockyard Festival at ADE will surpass everyone’s wildest expectations.

6) Mystic Garden

It begins as the sound of far-off music echoing through the woods, the drums lightly beating and the violin tune… the light at the heart of the forest calls you towards it! This October at Amsterdam Dance Event 2018 the Mystic Garden invites those who hear her enchanted call to step through her Garden Gates for an unforgettable experience- an enchanted world brimming with magical creatures and music. The Mystic Garden joins forces with Dockyard in an unprecedented marriage of light and dark- industrial v.s. fairyland! 7) Afterlife

Afterlife is returning to Amsterdam Dance Event to present its first 24-hour party. Beginning at 2pm on Saturday October 20th and running through until the next afternoon, Tale Of Us curate two rooms to encompass everything Afterlife is about. The setting is the raw and striking Elementenstraat Warehouse, which will make for some spectacle when adorned with the signature Afterlife production.

21st October

1) Awakenings ADE by Day

Another stellar show with a line-up that will put most night parties to shame, awakenings by day hosts some of the best names such as Peggy Gou, Sven Vath, Luciano, Ame & Rodhad and Kolsch amongst the rest.

2) Awakenings x Klockwork presents Photon

Ben Klocks signature showcase that is perfect to close a party, this one showcases some of the best of Acid Techno. Also, the show is titled Photon as it doesn’t focus on extravagant production, but just single beams of light that are well coordinated with the music. And we assure you (We attended the edition the previous year) this is the show that will possibly convert you into a techno person.

3) Filth on Acid presents Reinier Zonneveld & Friends

Rounding out the five days of Amsterdam Dance Event 2018 festivities at De Marktkantine sees a Filth on Acid takeover featuring an all-night live performance from its main man and club resident, Reinier Zonneveld. Expanding in both space and time with extended hours, Reinier’s performance will span the entire evening, shifting between solo live to b2b sets with numerous special Filth on Acid guests. Expect surprises at every turn and maximal production as Reinier transports the entire contents of his studio to De Marktkantine for this last ADE 2018 dance.

4) Giegling at Skatecafe

Konstantin’s famed label, Giegling, hosts some of the best artists off it’s roster for a chilled out day party! Put all the gender bias aside (If you know what we are referring to) and make sure you catch this one!
