Grammy nominated DJ, producer and sound visionary Paul van Dyk has finally dropped his new single ‘Lights’ ft. Sue McLaren. One of the most hotly anticipated records to be taken from his seventh artist album ‘The Politics of Dancing 3’, van Dyk has also unveiled an official music video and remix package to celebrate its release.
A firm fan-favourite, ‘Lights’ sees van Dyk team up with frequent collaborator and vocal muse Sue McLaren for a stunning and uplifting emotive masterpiece. Road-tested to tremendous applause throughout the summer, Paul further cements his position as the ‘godfather’ of his genre with this latest offering.
Stepping up to official remix duties, Giuseppe Ottaviani provides a superb trance translation, fellow Berliner Wee-O throws a festival-minded rework into the mix and one-to-watch UK based Owen Westlake’scontribution is an inspired contrast, deftly whipping up a huge house creation to round off the package.
Officially premiered yesterday, Dancing Astronaut described the way in which director and producer Adam Mason’s visual interpretation serves to perfectly embody the haunting nature of the track commenting, “The video for “Lights” aligns perfectly with the track itself; the melancholic ethos set by its minor key and McLaren’s ethereal voice is a perfect background to highlight the protagonist’s confusion and shock surrounding the discovery of her passing.” Check it out in full below.
