Sharon Stone has publicly alleged that she was cast and later removed from the highly anticipated Another Simple Favor sequel, starring Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick.
The veteran actress took to Instagram to express her frustration, commenting under a post about the film’s premiere at SXSW.
Stone sarcastically wrote, “I LOVED being cast and removed from my role unexpectedly for no reason at all. LOVED it.” She ended her comment with three clapping emojis, making her displeasure clear.
What Happened?
The sequel to A Simple Favor (2018) is set to release on Amazon Prime Video on May 1, 2025. However, Stone’s involvement in the film had never been publicly announced, making her claim all the more surprising.
A source close to the production told Variety that while there were initial discussions about her joining the cast, she was never officially cast. The source also stated that the reason for her absence was financial, saying, “The finances didn’t align.” Instead, Elizabeth Perkins was given the role Stone was reportedly in talks for.
Stone’s Career Momentum
Despite the setback, Sharon Stone has several major projects lined up. She recently landed a role in HBO’s Euphoria Season 3, where she will star alongside Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, and Jacob Elordi. The actress has called the opportunity “thrilling”, praising creator Sam Levinson and the show’s cast.
She has also joined the action sequel Nobody 2, starring Bob Odenkirk, where she is rumored to be playing the film’s main antagonist.
The Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick Sequel
Another Simple Favor follows Stephanie (Kendrick) and Emily (Lively) as they reunite for Emily’s extravagant Italian wedding. Their complex relationship takes another dark turn, leading to a new web of deception and suspense.
The film recently premiered at SXSW, with its leading stars in attendance. However, Stone’s Instagram comment has now cast a shadow over its rollout, sparking industry conversations about how casting negotiations unfold behind the scenes.
With Stone continuing to make bold career moves and Another Simple Favor gearing up for its release, her remarks add unexpected drama to an already highly anticipated film.
