upcoming albums 2021

The COVID-19 pandemic brought a lot of things to halt but not music. In these difficult times, music provides some solace and comfort.

Despite the challenges, 2020 emerged as a spectacular year for the music industry with excellent albums getting millions of views. But will it be the same in 2021? Are you an audiophile eagerly waiting for more albums to release? Find more information here.

Here is what’s definitely going to happen in 2021 in the realm of album releases.

Adele (TBD)

As the possibilities for six successive numerical titles came and went, fans expected a sequel to “25”. In addition to marriage, births, and divorce, the singer has packed in a lot of life experience into her new record, which she may or may not call “32”.

With Adele’s declaration at “SNL”, fans are looking forward to an album in 2021. In addition to suspense about how confessionally she’ll address her recent life circumstances in song, there’s also the question of what the album’s title will be. If she waits until after her next birthday, she can call it “33 1/3.”

Drake
Certified Lover Boy (TBD)

Drake hasn’t released a new album since Scorpion (2018.) Fans have been eagerly waiting for Drake’s new album for a very long time now. After a long break, the new album “Certified Lover Boy” teaser was dropped way back in August 2020.

To be originally released in January 2021, the album was later delayed indefinitely. Rumors suggest it will be released soon. A new Drake album is certainly among the few safe bets in the record business.

José González
Local Valley (September 17)

In February, after a long period 15 years after his solo debut, arrived González’s first-ever Spanish-language release, “El Invento.” Her first studio album in six years, Local Valley, was a result of the song. A few days ago, González announced the release of his much-awaited fourth solo studio album. Local Valley is all set to release on September 17.

As said by González, this song stays true to the style he’s been incorporating in previous solo albums, a natural continuation of the styles he’s been alternating between solo and as part of Junip.

Marisa Anderson / William Tyler
Lost Futures (August 27)

Marisa Anderson and William Tyler are all set to release their first collaborative album ‘Lost Futures’ on August 27. The duo crossed paths and connected after Late David Berman’s tribute show.

The two connected instantly and decided to create something together. The eight-track album was recorded during a one-week period last summer in Anderson’s hometown, Portland. Author and cultural theorist Mark Fisher was the inspiration for the title.

Jungle
Loving In Stereo (August 13)

Jungle unveiled a new album “Loving In Stereo’. On 13 August 2021, the British production duo will release this huge disco record. It’s their third album.

It’s their first release since For Ever (2018). The album is about positivity. As per their announcement, will embark on a worldwide tour (in September) that will continue through the winter.

Chvrches
Screen Violence (August 27)

Chvrches’ fourth album, Screen Violence, takes its title from one of the trio’s scrapped band names. The Scottish trio’s fourth record is all set to release on August 27.

‘Screen Violence’ was originally envisioned as a name for the band. Nearly all of the album’s tracks were recorded between Los Angeles and Glasgow. Song lyrics express loneliness, disillusionment, and fear, among other emotions. Screen Violence is produced by the three members. The trio recorded the album separately. Video calls were used to communicate and audio files were shared back and forth.

Ed Sheeran
Minus (TBD)

Ed Sheeran hasn’t released a full studio album in almost two years. Nevertheless, in early 2021, he began dropping clues about when and what fans can expect next. The title of his next album has not yet been officially confirmed but fans are 99% certain it will be called “Minus”.

Currently, no release date has been given, it’s expected that the album will arrive in 2021. It was back in May this year that he posted a picture of himself playing the guitar and wrote “Something’s cookin'”, implying something is coming soon. In February, he promised his fans a new album, sending out a thank-you message on his birthday.

A plethora of new albums is on their way. Which album are you the most excited about?
