Paul Feig has revealed he “definitely” has plans for “A Simple Favor” 3 movie, and it could be even wilder than the previous films.
In a recent interview, the filmmaker shared his excitement about returning to the Simple Favor universe, which has already seen two films, including the latest, Another Simple Favor. Feig is eager to bring back stars Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively, who play the quirky characters of Stephanie, the mommy vlogger, and Emily, the conwoman. According to Feig, he has a clear vision for the third film and is hopeful that everyone involved will be on board.
“We’ll see if everybody wants to do a third one,” Feig told People magazine. “It was too much fun, I would love to get back together with this group and these characters and send them on an even weirder, international adventure, if possible.” The director envisions taking the characters to new and exciting locations, building on the international settings of the previous films – with the first set in Connecticut and the second on the island of Capri. Feig wants to push the boundaries even further and explore the world more extensively in a potential third movie.
“I think we need to take them out into the world even more,” Feig said, teasing the idea of a truly global adventure for the characters. Fans of the franchise are already eager to see what Feig has in store, especially after the success of the previous films. But Feig isn’t one to rush into sequels. In fact, he admitted that Another Simple Favor was a rare exception for him, as he generally avoids doing sequels. “Sequels are hard,” he said. “Audiences, I think, got burned by a lot of sequels. And so the big question for an audience is always, “Why do I need to see this’?”
Despite his usual reluctance to return to familiar franchises, Feig felt there was a compelling reason to make a second Simple Favor movie. “This one just felt like, ‘Oh, there is a way into this.’” And with the unpredictable twists of the Simple Favor films, Feig was confident audiences would enjoy how the story unfolded, especially with the challenge of getting characters out of tricky situations, like prison. “Come on, Marvel brings people back from the dead. We can get somebody out of prison!” he joked.
Feig’s openness to sequels doesn’t stop with Simple Favor. He’s also hinted at the possibility of a sequel to his hit film Spy. “I mean, if there was ever going to be another movie that’ll have a sequel, it’ll probably be ‘Spy,'” he said. “So, you know, never say never.” The cast of Spy, including Jason Statham, is a key reason Feig is open to revisiting the spy comedy. Feig made it clear that Spy wouldn’t be the same without Statham’s character, Rick Ford, saying, “There’s no ‘Spy’ without Jason Statham, and I love him to death.”
As fans eagerly await confirmation about a third Simple Favor movie, it’s clear that Feig is ready to take the series to new heights. Whether it’s an international adventure or another genre-defying twist, fans can expect more fun, mystery, and surprises if the third installment comes to life.
